PRESS: Govt sees smartphones, computers as staples during lockdown
MOSCOW, Mar 30 (PRIME) -- The Russian government has included computer, electronic, and optical equipment in the list of basic necessities, business daily Vedomosti reported on Monday, citing a ruling by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin as of March 27.
The institutions providing the public with the staples comprise selling points of all formats, including markets, fairs, mobile facilities.
The ruling means that offline stores will be able to keep on selling electronics and household appliances, said Anton Guskov, a representative of the Association of Trading Companies and Manufacturers of Electrical Household and Computer Equipment (RATEK).
Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev recommended governors to keep connection operators and their stores open during the quarantine period.
